Vaginoplasty & Labiaplasty

Vaginoplasty is any surgical procedure that results in the construction or reconstruction of the vagina. It is a type of genitoplasty. Labiaplasty, plastic surgery on the labia (the “lips” surrounding the vagina), can be performed alone or in combination with vaginoplasty. Surgery may involve the labia majora (larger outer vaginal lips) or the labia minora (smaller inner vaginal lips) to correct asymmetry or reduce size.

Vaginoplasty and Labiaplasty

During a vaginoplasty procedure, tissue in the genital area is rearranged to create a vaginal canal (or opening) and vulva (external genitalia), including the labia. A version of vaginoplasty called vulvoplasty can create a feminine-appearing outer genital area with a shallow vaginal canal.

Recovery & Considerations

Recovery varies by patient and procedure. Swelling, bruising, and soreness are common. Patients should avoid strenuous activity for several weeks and follow post-operative instructions carefully. Full healing typically takes a few weeks to months, and results can be long-lasting with proper care.
